A POLICEMAN'S foot was run over before officers began an unsuccessful chase through Newcastle suburbs early yesterday after a raid on a business at Stockland Mall, Jesmond.
Police saw five men leave Gloria Jean's coffee shop about 2am and flee in two Holden Commodores.Police said the driver of one Commodore crashed into shopping trolleys and a pedestrian crossing sign before running over an officer's foot and escaping.Police lost track of the Commodore and later found it abandoned at Wallsend, where it was taken for forensic testing.The men allegedly took cash from a safe inside Gloria Jean's.
